Building the financial tools I wished existed while moving money across borders.
Myaza started with a problem I experienced myself.
I was in Nairobi on my first trip outside Nigeria, trying to spend money and move through a financial system that did not feel designed for someone like me. I had worked on fintech products before. This time I was the person experiencing the problem, and that changed how I thought about it.
I started thinking about people moving across Africa. People trying to pay. People trying to receive money. Businesses trying to sell across borders. People who simply want their money to work wherever they are.
Myaza is the company I co-founded to explore those problems. We are building financial products around payments, money movement, cross-border commerce, and the infrastructure businesses need to operate across markets.
This is one of the projects closest to me, because I am not just building the technology. I am building the company too. The technical decisions and the business decisions live in the same head now, and that is a different kind of work than anything I had done before.
It is one of the most important things I have built. But it is not the whole story. It is one chapter in a much longer journey that started with a kid trying to understand how phones and software worked.
I write about the decisions, tools, experiments, and lessons that do not always make it into the final product.
That includes AI, software, startups, and the messy parts of building.
