Turning coffee equipment into a source of intelligence for the businesses that run it.
This was a very different kind of software problem. Coffee equipment was producing data. The challenge was to build the systems that could collect that data, understand it, and make it useful.
The ecosystem included connected coffee equipment, cloud infrastructure, mobile applications, an admin frontend, device fleet management, and data analysis.
The goal was not to create another dashboard that nobody opens. The goal was to help businesses understand what was actually happening across their equipment and their coffee operations. Data is only worth collecting if someone can act on it.
I worked on the engineering behind that ecosystem. Managing a fleet of physical devices and making sense of what they report is a problem that stays interesting no matter how many times you come back to it.
I write about the decisions, tools, experiments, and lessons that do not always make it into the final product.
